Actor Mohanlal Pledges Aid for Landslide-Hit Wayanad

Renowned actor and Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Territorial Army, Mohanlal, visited the landslide-affected Wayanad region. He pledged Rs three crore for rehabilitation efforts and interacted with rescue workers. The Vishwashanthi Foundation, associated with Mohanlal, committed to further aid and rebuilding affected structures.

Renowned actor and Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Territorial Army, Mohanlal, visited the landslide-affected Wayanad region on Saturday, dressed in his army uniform. He pledged Rs three crore towards rehabilitation efforts for the disaster-hit area.

Mohanlal arrived at the Army camp in Meppadi and engaged in a brief discussion with officers before journeying to the landslide area with others. He toured Chooralmala, Mundakkai, and Punchirimattom, interacting with rescue workers including Army personnel and local residents to grasp the situation's severity.

In a media address, Mohanlal emphasized the disaster's magnitude, which he said can only be comprehended by seeing it firsthand. He praised the efforts of the Army, Navy, Air Force, NDRF, Fire and Rescue, and local organizations involved in the rescue operations. Mohanlal noted the pivotal role of his 122 infantry battalion (TA) in the immediate response. He also mentioned that the Vishwashanthi Foundation will contribute Rs three crore for recovery initiatives, with plans to provide additional support if necessary.
