Holy Mace Visits Historic Shankaracharya Temple

The Chhari Mubarak, the holy mace of Swami Amarnathji, was taken to the Shankaracharya temple in Srinagar for prayers on 'Haryali Amavasya'. Led by Mahant Deependra Giri ji, the prayers for peace and prosperity lasted over two hours. The temple, dating back to King Sandiman's era, was later named after Adi Shankracharya.

The Chhari Mubarak, the holy mace revered by followers of Swami Amarnathji, was ceremoniously taken to the historic Shankaracharya temple in Srinagar for prayers on the occasion of 'Haryali Amavasya' on Sunday.

Led by Mahant Deependra Giri ji and accompanied by sadhus, the devotees participated in rituals lasting over two hours amidst the sound of conch shells and Vedic hymns. Collective prayers for the peace and prosperity of Jammu & Kashmir were also conducted.

The Shankaracharya temple, perched atop the Zabarwan hill range near Dalgate, has historical significance dating back to King Sandiman (2629-2564 BC). The temple was originally known as Jyeshteshwara or Jyoteshwara and was later renamed after Adi Shankracharya's visit. On Monday, the Chhari Mubarak will be taken to the 'Sharika-Bhawani' temple in Old Srinagar for further observances.
