On August 4, Sunny shared memorable scenes from 'Betaab' on Instagram, captioning, "41 Years of #Betaab. My first film." Directed by Rahul Rawail, the film featured Sunny and debutante Amrita Singh as young lovers from differing social classes. Deol's performance earned him a Filmfare Best Actor nomination.
'Betaab' was a box-office hit, with chartbuster songs like 'Jab Hum Jawan Honge' and 'Tumne Dee Awaaz.' Deol later solidified his star status with successful films like 'Arjun', 'Ghayal', and 'Gadar'. In August 2023, 'Gadar 2' reaffirmed his stardom by smashing box office records.
