Prime Minister Modi Pays Tribute to Quit India Movement

Prime Minister Narendra Modi honored the participants of the Quit India Movement, calling it a pivotal moment in India's freedom struggle. He praised those who joined the movement under Mahatma Gandhi's leadership. Despite the British arresting key leaders, the movement gained momentum and expedited India's independence.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday paid homage to those who participated in the Quit India movement, describing it as a watershed moment in the freedom struggle.

Taking to X, Modi said, ''Homage to all those who took part in the Quit India Movement under Bapu's leadership. It was truly a watershed moment in our freedom struggle.''

The movement had begun on this day in 1942, following Mahatma Gandhi's call for the British rulers to quit India, urging countrymen to resolve to ''do or die'' in their pursuit of an independent India. Although the British authorities arrested Gandhi and other prominent leaders of the Congress, the movement grew organically and hastened the departure of the British after World War II.
