The German-Indian Green and Sustainable Development Partnership (GSDP) is poised to achieve 'very good results' when Chancellor Olaf Scholz meets Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi in October, according to German Ambassador Philipp Ackermann. Scholz and Modi signed the GSDP in May 2022 to align cooperation between the two nations with the objectives of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris Agreement.

Ambassador Ackermann emphasized the 'intensity and closeness' in the friendship between India and Germany, calling the partnership vital for addressing climate change, smart city initiatives, and biodiversity. He highlighted the 'well-funded' nature of the partnership and its effectiveness thus far, noting various ongoing projects and new initiatives that are regularly introduced.

Scholz's upcoming visit, set for October 25, will include intergovernmental consultations aimed at boosting bilateral trade and economic relations. Ackermann also noted a focus on 'ease of doing business' in India. The overall partnership extends beyond government cooperation, including academic collaborations and joint defense exercises, with both countries committed to finding sustainable solutions and enhancing security ties.
