Tragedy in the Sabarmati: Idol Immersion Turns Fatal in Gandhinagar

A tragic incident unfolded on Wednesday morning in Gandhinagar city, Gujarat, where three persons, including a minor girl, drowned in the Sabarmati river during an idol immersion ceremony, police confirmed.
The group, comprised of devotees from Ahmedabad, had gathered near Sector-30 to immerse an idol of Goddess Dasha Mata after a 10-day religious event. The mishap occurred when 12-year-old Poonam Prajapati lost her balance and fell into the river. Attempts to rescue her proved fatal for two others.
The victims, identified as Ajay Vanzara (30) and Bharatiben Prajapati (34), along with the girl, were recovered by the fire brigade personnel and subsequently handed over to their families after necessary formalities.
