AIIMS Mangalagiri Students Suspend Non-Emergency Services in Protest

Students at AIIMS Mangalagiri have halted all non-emergency services to protest the rape and murder of a fellow medical student in Kolkata. The indefinite strike, endorsed by various medical institutions, demands a thorough investigation and justice for the victim, alongside implementation of protective measures for medical professionals.

Students at the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), Mangalagiri, have suspended non-emergency services starting Friday. This action is in protest against the recent rape and murder of a post-graduate student from RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata.

The non-emergency services have been halted indefinitely by the AIIMS student body. Emergency services, including Intensive Care Units and labour rooms, will continue to function uninterrupted, according to NVS Krishna Reddy, a medico from the college.

Backing the protest, the Andhra Pradesh Government Doctors Association condemned the incident and announced a one-hour boycott on Saturday, while the Indian Medical Association's state chapter plans to suspend services for 24 hours.
