BRS Working President K T Rama Rao on Friday issued an apology for his remarks about women commuters in state-owned buses.
Speaking at a recent event, Rama Rao commented on the Congress government's scheme of free travel for women, suggesting that women engage in activities like knitting while traveling on RTC buses. He mentioned his party had no objections to such activities but preferred they avoid situations where scuffles might break out.
After facing sharp criticism from various groups for these comments, Rama Rao took to social media to clarify his intentions. He stated that he never meant to offend women or families and issued an apology to those who were hurt by his remarks.
Reacting to the comments, Women and Child Welfare Minister D Anasuya demanded a formal apology from Rama Rao to the women of Telangana. Concurrently, the Telangana State Commission for Women issued a notice to Rama Rao, requesting his presence on August 24 to address his allegedly derogatory comments.
