Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh cited a report from the Indian Express, emphasizing local residents' demands for fair compensation and highlighting flaws in the social impact assessment related to land acquisition for a greenfield international airport.

Ramesh criticized the assessment for failing to adequately address the project's impact on vulnerable tribal groups and the island's water resources, urging the suspension of clearances and a comprehensive review by parliamentary committees.
