An Indian Air Force (IAF) fighter jet inadvertently released an 'air store' near the Pokhran firing range in Rajasthan on Wednesday, following a technical malfunction. The incident did not result in any damage to life or property, authorities confirmed.
The IAF announced that an inquiry has been ordered to investigate the cause of the unintended release. The term 'air store' in military language refers to items such as bombs, missiles, munitions, or fuel tanks attached to an aircraft.
Subsequent to the release, Sub-Inspector Shankar Lal from Ramdevra police station said some local residents heard a loud bang about a kilometer from the village. On reaching the site, they discovered fragments of the released object scattered around.
