SCIFF 2024 Inaugurated, Empowering Young Minds Through Cinema

The 7th edition of the School Cinema International Film Festival (SCIFF) was inaugurated in Bengaluru. This event, formerly known as the International Kids Film Festival, is curated by Syed Sultan Ahmed. The festival is showcasing various films, with screenings at several schools and features a filmmaking competition for students.

The 7th edition of the School Cinema International Film Festival (SCIFF), one of India’s largest children's cinema events, was inaugurated on Thursday in Bengaluru. The festival, previously known as the International Kids Film Festival (IKFF), will run until August 31.

Curated by Syed Sultan Ahmed, Founder and Chief Learner at LXL Ideas, SCIFF aims to bring global perspectives to schools, encouraging students to dream big and become active global citizens. 'By bringing the world to their schools, we are empowering millions of young minds to dream big, think critically, and become active global citizens,' Ahmed stated.

Highlighting the festival's impact, Ahmed noted the overwhelming response, indicating a need for innovative educational practices that foster empathy and creativity. This year, SCIFF will screen films at Royal Concorde International School, ASC Centre and College, and Sophia High School in Bengaluru. The festival kicked off at ASC Centre and College in collaboration with the Army Wives Welfare Association.

The opening event was attended by notable dignitaries, including Lt Gen B K Repswal, Brig Rohit Sethi, and Family Welfare Organisation Chairperson Manju Ahlawat. Films such as 'Rasmalai,' 'Shera,' and 'Hoofs on Skates' were featured for students, while parents enjoyed screenings of 'Best Friends Forever' and 'Try Hard.'

SCIFF 2024 also includes a filmmaking competition, providing a global platform for young filmmakers. The festival receives support from the state governments of Rajasthan, Punjab, and Assam, and its jury comprises international and national experts in film and animation.
