The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) administration has reopened the famous Parthasarathy Rocks, a site declared off-limits for students in 2019. The site, known for its historical and cultural significance, will now be accessible between 6 am and 10 pm daily.
Parthasarathy Rocks, part of the Aravalli Hills, contains stones dating back to prehistoric times and serves as a popular sunset point for the JNU community. The site was closed in 2019 after a fatal incident involving a student who fell off a rock.
The latest circular from the university administration states that entry will require showing a JNU-issued identity card and signing a visitors' register. This move is in response to demands from the JNU students' union, whose members have been on a hunger strike since August 11.
