South Indian actor Vikram has called on men to ensure that women feel safe, no matter the time or place. The actor described recent crimes against women in India as 'disgusting' and stressed the need for societal change to protect women.

Vikram's comments come in the wake of the alleged rape and murder of a female doctor in Kolkata and the Justice Hema Committee's report on exploitation in Malayalam cinema. The 58-year-old actor, known for his roles in films like 'Anniyan' and 'Ponniyin Selvan,' pondered whether he could address these issues in his movies.

'Women should feel protected, able to walk the streets at any time without fear,' Vikram told PTI. He cited director Pa Ranjith's films, which often tackle systemic changes, as potential inspiration for his own work. 'Something has to be done,' Vikram concluded.
