Former Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari recently shared insights on the challenges faced by the media industry and the government's approach to it. Recalling former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's advice, Tewari stressed that the media should be engaged with through persuasion rather than coercion.

During an interaction at PTI, Tewari criticized the Broadcasting Services (Regulation) Bill, 2024, asserting that it is not the solution to the issues plaguing the flow of news. Instead, he emphasized the need to fix the flawed revenue models within the media industry.

Tewari highlighted that despite efforts during his tenure to address these challenges through digitization, significant problems still persist. He called for collaborative efforts to overhaul revenue structures in order to ensure a healthier media environment.
