Ambadas Danve, a prominent Shiv Sena (UBT) leader, has launched an attack on the Maharashtra government following the collapse of a 35-foot statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Danve has questioned whether any scientific study was conducted to determine the statue's height and whether political ambitions influenced its design specifics.
The statue, located at Rajkot fort in Malvan tehsil of coastal Sindhudurg district, collapsed on August 26, prompting a significant political controversy. The state government has responded by establishing a technical committee comprised of engineers, IIT experts, and Navy officials to investigate the collapse.
Adding to the tension, Danve criticized the competence of the committee members and raised concerns about potential damage to the remains of Rajkot fort during the construction of a new fortification. The arrest of structural consultant Chetan Patil and artist Jaydeep Apte has further intensified the situation.
