A meticulously restored railway coach from the bygone era, symbolising Mahatma Gandhi's famous train journeys that were instrumental in his mission to unite the nation during the freedom struggle, was unveiled by Union Minister for Culture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Wednesday.

The coach, now installed at Gandhi Darshan at Rajghat, is painted brown and marked 'III' to depict the third-class compartments Gandhi frequently traveled in. A life-size sculpture of Gandhi stepping down from the coach adds authenticity and immersive experience to the exhibit.

Addressing the event, Shekhawat highlighted the enduring relevance of Gandhi's philosophy, noting its significance not only for India but for the wider world. Gandhi's train journeys allowed him to connect with people from various walks of life, shaping his understanding of India and his vision of social justice and unity.
