Former Bad Boy Singer Sues Diddy for Assault and Fraud

Dawn Richard, a former singer for Bad Boy Records, has filed a lawsuit accusing music mogul and the label's founder Sean 'Diddy' Combs of sexual assault, battery, sex trafficking, gender discrimination, and fraud, according to court documents.

Filed on Tuesday in the Southern District of New York, Richard's lawsuit also names former Bad Boy Entertainment CEO Harve Pierre. Her legal action came just one day after another $100 million judgment was awarded against Combs in a separate case involving a Michigan prison inmate. Combs' attorney indicated plans to seek a dismissal in that case.

Neither Combs' representatives nor Pierre's team immediately responded to requests for comment from Reuters on Wednesday. Richard, who was part of the girl group Danity Kane and the R&B trio Diddy Dirty Money, alleges repeated groping, physical violence, and life-threatening behavior by Combs, stemming from her audition for his MTV series 'Making the Band' in 2004. She also cited instances of abuse towards Combs' then-girlfriend, Cassandra Ventura, who settled her own lawsuit against Combs last year.
