Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness is set to undertake a historic four-day visit to India starting Monday, aimed at fortifying bilateral ties across key sectors, notably trade and investment.
This marks the first-ever bilateral visit by a Jamaican prime minister to India.
Holness and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who have met frequently at multilateral events, will hold delegation-level discussions to bolster economic cooperation and enhance longstanding bonds between their nations, according to India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
Holness will also meet Indian President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and various dignitaries, providing an opportunity for further diplomatic engagement.
The MEA indicated that numerous Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) are anticipated to be signed during Holness's visit, which will significantly enhance bilateral cooperation.
The two countries share historical and cultural links, grounded in their colonial past, democratic values, and a shared enthusiasm for cricket, the MEA noted in a statement.
