Zaheer Abbas, the venerated former Pakistani cricketer, believes that comparisons between Virat Kohli and Babar Azam are unfounded, pointing to Kohli's consistent performances as a distinguishing factor. Abbas's comments come amidst a challenging period for Babar, who is facing a prolonged slump in form.
'Yeh fizool ki baatein hai (the comparisons are pointless). Virat Kohli scores in every match the other player (Babar) doesn't score in any match so then how can you compare. The person who scores, he is the bigger player,' Abbas remarked at the Cricket Predicta Conclave, stressing the disparity in their achievements.
Kohli has amassed 80 international centuries compared to Babar's 31. Praising the Indian team for its balanced performance, Abbas predicts a strong showing for India in the upcoming Champions Trophy. Known as the 'Asian Bradman', Abbas underscores the irreplaceable value of Test cricket in honing a player's skills, chiding those who prioritize T20 leagues over traditional formats. Pakistan, once a cricketing powerhouse, has seen its fortunes decline dramatically, highlighted by their recent test series loss to Bangladesh. Abbas calls for immediate PCB intervention to handle internal team rivalries, ensuring they do not escalate further.
