Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will head a nationwide coastal and beach cleanup drive from Porbandar, Gujarat, on Gandhi Jayanti this Wednesday. The initiative aims to remove single-use plastic waste from India's coastal areas, capping off the larger 'Swachhata Hi Seva' campaign.
Mandaviya's involvement highlights the commitment to sustainable environmental practices, resonating with the vision for a clean, plastic-free India. The campaign organized by MY Bharat under the Department of Youth Affairs, sees active youth participation in promoting cleanliness and environmental accountability.
Targeting over 1,000 locations along India's 7,500 km coastline, the drive will involve more than 100,000 MY Bharat volunteers. Mandaviya has also reached out to MPs of coastal districts, urging participation to bolster the campaign's success. Cleanup efforts have already impacted 100,000 villages and numerous community centers and historical sites across the nation.
