Zee TV Africa's Zee Zonke has celebrated 28 community achievers in a groundbreaking series titled 'Amaqhawe – Our Heroes.' This series, launched in isiZulu, highlights the inspiring stories of unsung heroes across different sectors and airs on Zee Zonke, reaching audiences across Africa.
At a gala event in Johannesburg, Somnath Malakar, CEO of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Africa, highlighted the importance of recognizing everyday heroes. 'Amaqhawe' aims to showcase individuals making significant contributions in arts, business, medicine, education, and beyond, transforming communities and paving the way for future generations.
Malakar announced plans for public nominations for the next series, emphasizing the collaborative efforts with community leaders to identify nominees. Indian cultural ties were also celebrated, with claims this initiative strengthens India-South Africa relations, as echoed by the Consul General of India and the South African Ambassador to India.
