Union minister Amit Shah called for the integration of 6.5 crore rural families into the cooperative dairy sector, aiming to end their exploitation through unfair pricing. Currently, only 1.5 crore out of 8 crore dairy-producing families are part of the cooperative framework.
Speaking at an event in Anand, Gujarat, to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and the birth anniversary of AMUL's founder, Tribhuvandas Patel, Shah emphasized the pivotal role of cooperatives in empowering farmers, particularly women.
Shah underscored the transformative impact of the cooperative movement on India's rural and national development and urged the NDDB to focus on expanding membership and maximizing benefits for farmers.
