Diwali Lights Brighten Lives of Vrindavan Widows

Widows and abandoned women in Vrindavan celebrated Diwali by lighting lamps at Keshi Ghat on the Yamuna river. Dressed in white sarees, they created a floral rangoli. This event, organized by Sulabh Hope Foundation, aims to reintegrate widows into society by celebrating festivals like Diwali.

In a heartwarming celebration, thousands of widows and abandoned women marked Diwali by illuminating earthen lamps at the Keshi Ghat of the Yamuna river in Vrindavan.

Traditionally marginalized, these women, clad in white sarees, crafted vibrant rangoli designs, with many reminiscing about past festivities they believed they'd never partake in again.

The event was orchestrated by Sulabh Hope Foundation, which has, for over a decade, facilitated such gatherings to challenge societal norms that have historically ostracized widows, providing them a platform for joy and integration.
