The Kashmir-based 257 Aviation Squadron, under the leadership of Colonel Vikas Magar, has clinched the title of India's foremost army aviation squadron, officials reported on Wednesday.

Hailing from Ahilyanagr in Maharashtra, Col. Magar, an alumnus of Sainik School Satara, steered his squadron to victory with a focus on impeccable flight safety standards. The award, part of the 'Aviation Flight Safety Award' bestowed by Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, acknowledges excellence in ensuring safe, efficient missions.

This recognition underscores the army aviation's commitment to safety across its high-stakes operations, with categories divided for competition among single and multiple-engine helicopter units. Both the 663 and 257 Army Aviation Squadrons achieved top honors in their respective fields.
