Remembering Kharsawan: A Tribute to Jharkhand's Martyrs

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren commemorated the 77th anniversary of the Kharsawan firing incident, where hundreds were killed. He highlighted tribal contributions to the state's formation and environmental preservation. Tributes were paid to those who sacrificed for 'jal, jungle, jameen' (water, forest, land).

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren paid homage to the martyrs of the Kharsawan firing incident on its 77th anniversary, observed at Sahid Sthal in the Seraikela-Kharswan district.

Accompanied by key representatives, including his wife Kalpana, ministers, and MLAs, Soren noted the historical significance of the January 1, 1948 massacre, a pivotal event in the long struggle for Jharkhand's statehood, realized in 2000.

Emphasizing a connection with nature, he stated that had the tribal way of life been adopted universally, the global environmental crisis might have been averted. Soren praised the ongoing fight for indigenous rights and called for continued dedication to the cause of preserving water, forests, and land.
