WWII Bomb Defused in Assam: A Historic Echo Neutralized

A 182-kg World War II bomb discovered in Assam last year was safely defused in Lakhimpur district by Air Force experts. The bomb was initially found along the Jhili river. Precautions ensured no harm to local wildlife, marking the operation as successful and incident-free.

A significant remnant from the Second World War was rendered harmless in Assam, as officials successfully defused a 182-kg bomb in Lakhimpur district on Thursday.

According to Lakhimpur District Commissioner Pronab Jit Kakoty, the bomb was discovered on September 27, 2024, on the banks of the Jhili river by the Air Force.

Experts from the Air Force handled the defusal operation inside Dulung Reserve Forest, taking necessary precautions to protect wildlife, as confirmed by Divisional Forest Officer Manoj Kumar Goswami, ensuring the mission concluded safely.
