The Uttarakhand High Court has mandated the dismantling of decrepit structures near Kalagarh Dam, within Jim Corbett Tiger Reserve, citing safety concerns. This decision follows a Public Interest Litigation filed by the Kalagarh Welfare and Upliftment Committee to protect residents' interests.

Pauri District Magistrate Ashish Chauhan informed the court of rehabilitation measures. Residents without alternative accommodations will be considered for relocation by the state governments of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, who have committed to resettle 213 people as a philanthropic gesture.

An earlier court-directed survey led to the identification of 72 unsafe structures, with an additional 25 belonging to the Forest Department. The Uttarakhand High Court emphasized the importance of executing the demolition without affecting permanent residences, urging quick and efficient action, with detailed reports to follow from officials.
