Mexico's largest broadcaster, Grupo Televisa, has unveiled its financial blueprint for 2025, earmarking $665 million for capital expenditures. This comes after a 2024 CAPEX of $493 million, markedly lower than initial estimates of $793 million, amid financial challenges.
Televisa reported a net loss of 9.8 billion pesos in its fourth-quarter results, exacerbated by a shrinking subscription base and declining revenues from its business operations and Sky satellite service. Despite this setback, the company's cash reserves increased by nearly 40% over the last year.
The firm is also focusing on operational downsizing, with an 8% reduction in workforce at TelevisaUnivision. On a brighter note, its streaming platform Vix has surged to become a billion-dollar business. Netflix's $1 billion investment in Mexican content is seen as a strategic boon for the broadcaster.
