The Madras High Court has ruled against a petition that aimed to stop Isha Foundation's planned Mahasivarathri celebrations in Coimbatore, citing alleged environmental infractions.

Petitioner S T Sivagnanan accused the foundation of lacking proper sewage treatment facilities and causing noise pollution without receiving proper permits for their February celebration. He argued past violations necessitated strict action.

The Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB), however, assured the court of Isha Foundation's compliance with pollution regulations in their counter affidavit. A division bench, convinced by TNPCB's findings, dismissed the petition citing adequate facilities and no registered complaints.
