In a notable conclusion to a long-standing feud, Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut and celebrated lyricist Javed Akhtar have amicably settled their defamation case, marking the end of a five-year legal battle.

Posting on Instagram, Ranaut shared a photograph taken from the court, revealing that the pair had successfully completed mediation. Ranaut expressed appreciation for Akhtar's 'kind and gracious' demeanor throughout the proceedings, noting that he even agreed to contribute songs to her upcoming directorial endeavor.

The initial conflict began in November 2020 when Akhtar accused Ranaut of criminal defamation after she allegedly mentioned him in relation to her dispute with actor Hrithik Roshan. On the career front, Ranaut is set to reunite with R Madhavan in an upcoming psychological thriller, while Akhtar recently launched a docuseries celebrating his work with renowned collaborator Salim Khan.
