Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted that the 2025-26 state budget does not introduce new projects, firmly focusing on enhancing existing initiatives. The budget underscores a commitment to expanding infrastructure while promoting cultural heritage.
During an assembly discussion, Sarma dismissed claims that the budget is tailored for election purposes. He clarified that the emphasis remains on advancing current schemes with strategic enhancements, including an OTT platform for Assamese content and a state satellite.
Over the past decade, Assam's budget and capital expenditures have significantly grown. Sarma detailed a new development model that integrates sector-wide progression and cultural conservation, addressing critiques about direct fund transfers intended to boost grassroots economic activities.
