An animal rights activist, Sai Vignesh, reported receiving a life threat on Tuesday after discovering a machete attached to the nameboard of his animal shelter in Tiruvallur district.

On entering the sanctuary on March 9, 2025, Vignesh discovered the machete with a newspaper showing the word 'Warning' prominently, indicating a dire threat. He subsequently reported the incident to the local police, who then seized the items for investigation.

Known for his proactive role in curbing illegal cattle trafficking and aiding in animal rescues, Vignesh suspects the threat stems from his involvement in these activities. He manages the Almighty Animal Care Trust, housing over 400 rescued animals, at Sendrayanpalayam.
