The granddaughter of Nek Chand, the visionary behind Chandigarh's famed Rock Garden, has penned an appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She expressed her concern over the recent demolition of a section of the Garden's wall, undertaken to facilitate a road-widening project.

The Chandigarh administration, facing opposition from residents and environmental advocates, contends that the wall was not originally part of Nek Chand's design. The demolition aims to alleviate congestion near the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Heritage enthusiasts, however, argue that the integrity of a globally recognized cultural site is being compromised. Saini emphasizes the artistic and environmental legacy of her grandfather's work and urges for immediate action to stop further destruction.
