Renowned stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra has come under scrutiny after the Maharashtra legislative council admitted a breach of privilege notice against him for reportedly mocking Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde during a recent performance.
The controversy, which has sparked significant debate, originated from Kamra's parody act at the Habitat Comedy Club in Khar, targeting Shinde. The performance elicited a strong reaction, notably from Shiv Sena supporters, who vandalized the venue in protest.
In response to the uproar, BJP MLC Pravin Darekar, with support from the council, filed the notice, claiming Kamra's act disrespected legislative institutions. The notice will be reviewed by the Privileges Committee, which will decide the subsequent action.
