Actor Theo James takes on a prominent role in the upcoming gangster thriller 'The Bookie & the Bruiser,' joining Vince Vaughn in the highly anticipated film. Initially announced by Variety, the project sees James replacing Adrien Brody, who was originally cast following his Oscar win for 'The Brutalist.'

Directed by S. Craig Zahler, known for 'Bone Tomahawk,' the film is being represented internationally by Anton, which continues to manage sales at the Marche du Film. UTA Independent Film Group and Range Select have orchestrated the funding and are handling North American distribution rights. The movie, set in 1959 New York City, follows the story of a reflective Jewish man named Rivner, played by James, and a robust Italian American tough, Boscolo, portrayed by Vaughn. Both characters return from World War II as transformed men, struggling to adapt to their former lives.

Defying societal norms and authority, the duo embarks on an illicit gambling enterprise, with Rivner as the bookmaker and Boscolo as his enforcer. Their venture becomes highly lucrative yet perilous, landing them in the midst of a vicious battle between the Mafia and an Irish gang, forcing them into a desperate fight for survival.
