Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu participated actively in a Buddha Purnima event held at a local school on Monday. During the event, the minister advocated for the integration of Lord Buddha's teachings into contemporary life.
In his address, CM Sukhu extended warm greetings for Vaishakh Purnima, recognizing its significance as Buddha's birth anniversary. He elaborated on Buddha's mantra, 'Appa Deepo Bhava' or 'Be your own light', describing it as essential for fostering self-reliance in today's India. He emphasized that Buddha's messages of peace, tolerance, and compassion hold immense relevance amidst current global challenges.
Highlighting the convergence of significant events like Buddha's enlightenment and 'Mahaparinirvana', CM Sukhu underscored their sacred value. He shared personal anecdotes from his school days and later honored Tshering Palkit Negi and Pema Dorjee with the India-Tibet Friendship Award, while a cultural display celebrated regional traditions.
