Indian filmmaker Payal Kapadia made a notable appearance at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, joining the prestigious jury panel. This marks her return to the festival a year after her historic achievement.
Kapadia, who made history as the first Indian director to win the Grand Prix for her debut film 'All We Imagine As Light', represented a significant milestone for Indian cinema. The Malayalam-Hindi movie, a collaborative India-France project, broke a 30-year dry spell for Indian films in the Cannes Competition.
Alongside other jury members including French star Juliette Binoche and American actor Halle Berry, Kapadia attended the photocall in a striking ensemble by designer Payal Khandwala. The Cannes jury will soon decide on the Palme d'Or winner from 21 Competition entries.
