The North American Punjabi Association has made an urgent appeal to protect sacred copies of the Guru Granth Sahib stored at a Tehran gurdwara in conflict-ridden Iran. They call on the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and Panthic leadership to take prompt action.
Executive Director Satnam Singh Chahal emphasized the need for SGPC to charter an aircraft and deploy a dedicated team to safely transport the revered texts out of Iran. The plea comes amid escalating tensions between Iran and Israel.
SGPC officials underscored the importance of safeguarding the Guru Granth Sahib, a text of paramount significance to the Sikh community. They also urged the Indian government to leverage diplomatic channels to ensure the safety of gurdwaras in the region.
