Actor and former Mandya MP Ramya has taken a firm stance against online harassment by filing a police complaint. On Monday, she reported receiving severe threats, including rape and murder threats, after opposing comments from fans of notable Kannada actor Darshan on social media.
Ramya, familiar with online trolling, emphasized that the intensity and nature of these threats were unprecedented. The issue escalated after she shared a report on Supreme Court proceedings in the Renukaswamy murder case, where Darshan is a prime suspect and highlighted the court's scrutiny of his bail.
The actress has involved the cybercrime department, submitting complaints against numerous online offenders, while expressing gratitude for support from the State Women's Commission and industry bodies. Ramya called on fellow celebrities to discourage abusive fan behavior, stressing the need for action to prevent further societal decline.
