The annual Amarnath Yatra has been suspended until August 3 to ensure the safety of pilgrims, due to heavy rains prompting urgent repairs on the pilgrimage routes, as per officials.

The pilgrimage, initially open via the Baltal route despite Pahalgam's closure, was later halted on both routes following more rainfall. The Bagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu also halted pilgrim movement for the second consecutive day.

Kashmir Divisional Commissioner Vijay Kumar Bidhuri stated that heavy rains necessitated repair work on both Pahalgam and Baltal routes. Pilgrims' safety remains a priority, and further updates will be released in due course.
