The Goa government is set to launch a financial assistance scheme for devotees participating in the 'wari' pilgrimage to Pandharpur in Maharashtra, as announced by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday.

In collaboration with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Sawant is seeking land allocation in Pandharpur for a shelter for Goan pilgrims, known as 'warkaris'.

This initiative follows BJP MLA Premendra Shet’s call for state-funded support for the Ashadi Kartiki Ekadashi pilgrimage. With a scheme in place, Goa's pilgrims will receive funding before embarking on their 370-kilometer journey.
