In a solemn ceremony, national and state leaders, including Union ministers Jual Oram and Annapurna Devi, as well as Jharkhand Governor Santosh Gangwar, gathered to pay their respects to Shibu Soren, a veteran tribal leader and co-founder of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), at the Jharkhand assembly on Tuesday.
Adorned in a traditional white kurta-pyjama and gamcha, Chief Minister Hemant Soren, along with a large assembly of mourners, paid tribute to the beloved leader. Soren, affectionately known as 'Guruji,' passed away in Delhi following prolonged illness at the age of 81.
Renowned for his dedication to tribal identity and public service, Shibu Soren's passing leaves a significant void in Jharkhand politics and culture. As per his wishes, he will be interred with full state honors in his ancestral village, Nemra, perpetuating his legacy of empowerment and activism in the region.
