Tripura's Indigenous Pride: Rallying for Rights

Pradyot Debbarma, leader of the Tipra Motha Party, has called for a significant event at Khumulwng, West Tripura, on August 9 to commemorate the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples.

Debbarma urged Tripura's residents to embrace their cultural identity by wearing traditional clothing and preparing local dishes such as 'chakwi', 'gudok', and 'mosdeng' at home or with colleagues. He emphasized the importance of showcasing the indigenous culture.

In a Facebook post, Debbarma criticized the State Election Commission for not conducting village council elections, stating it as a denial of constitutional rights. Torch rallies will occur that evening, and the party plans to approach the Supreme Court if the issue remains unresolved.
