In a tragic incident that marred the Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations, five people were electrocuted and four others sustained injuries when a chariot struck overhead electric wires in Ramanthapur early on Monday.
The accident took place around 1.30 AM as devotees, involved in pushing the fuel-depleted chariot adorned with Lord Krishna's idol, unknowingly positioned it beneath live wires.
A fallen cable came into contact with the wires, subsequently touching the chariot's brass frame and resulting in the fatalities, officials revealed. Four individuals remain hospitalized as investigations continue into the safety measures overlooked during the event.
