Pioneering Endeavor to Document and Empower Chhattisgarh's Tribal Heritage

Guru Ghasidas Central University and the Tribal Research & Knowledge Centre have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to conduct in-depth research on tribal communities in Chhattisgarh. The collaboration aims to unlock unexplored dimensions of tribal life, enhancing cultural understanding and empowering tribal youth through education and capacity-building programs.

Guru Ghasidas Central University, in collaboration with the Delhi-based Tribal Research & Knowledge Centre (TRKC), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at advancing research on the tribal communities of Bastar and Surguja in Chhattisgarh.

This groundbreaking agreement, involving Prof. Abhay S. Randive of the university and Rajeev Sharma of TRKC, sets the stage for an extensive three-year research mission. The focus will be on exploring the ancient traditions, socio-political structures, and economic systems of these communities.

Through this initiative, the findings from the research are expected to enhance public knowledge and empower tribal youth by reconnecting them with their historic legacy. Additionally, the research will lead to the development of academic curricula that celebrate and integrate tribal knowledge systems. The collaboration represents a significant step toward giving Chhattisgarh's indigenous populations a robust academic voice.
