Tragedy in Khandwa: Devotional Procession Ends in Disaster

In a tragic incident, at least nine devotees died after a tractor-trolley transporting idols of Goddess Durga for immersion plunged into a lake in Madhya Pradesh's Khandwa district. The incident occurred in the Pandhana area, according to police reports.
The procession was part of Vijayadashmi celebrations, and the tractor was carrying idols from various villages when the accident happened, Inspector General of Police (Indore rural range) Anurag informed PTI.
State Disaster Response Force officials have retrieved nine bodies, and search operations continue. Additional SDRF teams have been dispatched, and an investigation into the accident has been initiated.
