Delhi High Court Summons Red Chillies Over Wankhede’s Defamation Suit

The Delhi High Court issued summons to Red Chillies Entertainment and others after a defamation suit was filed by Sameer Wankhede, former NCB Mumbai zonal director. The defendants have seven days to respond. The case, which includes a series produced by Shah Rukh Khan's company, resumes on October 30.

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday issued summons to Red Chillies Entertainment Private Limited and several others in response to a defamation suit filed by Sameer Wankhede, the former Mumbai zonal director of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav served the notices following Wankhede's allegations against Shah Rukh Khan's company and involved parties.

The court has instructed Red Chillies and others to respond within seven days. Following their replies, the petitioner must file a rejoinder within three days. All parties must receive copies of the petition, and the court scheduled a hearing on the matter for October 30.

No immediate relief was granted to Wankhede, with the High Court asking the petitioner to return after ten days. Earlier proceedings on September 26 laid the groundwork for the current case, centering around the series 'Ba***ds of Bollywood'. Senior legal counsel for both parties presented their cases to Justice Kaurav, who questioned the jurisdiction and validity of the Delhi filing.
