President Droupadi Murmu has made history by becoming the first female head of state to offer prayers at the Lord Ayyappa temple in Sabarimala. She traveled in a convoy of five four-wheel-drive vehicles along the traditional Swami Ayyappan Road for this significant pilgrimage.
During her visit, President Murmu was welcomed by the state's top officials, including Devaswom Minister V N Vasavan and MP Anto Antony. After paying her respects at the temple, she plans to unveil a bust of former President K R Narayanan and inaugurate celebrations at Sivagiri Mutt.
Her Kerala itinerary also includes attending the centenary celebrations at St Teresa's College and participating in the Platinum Jubilee festivities of St Thomas College. President Murmu's four-day visit underscores her commitment to honoring Kerala's cultural and spiritual heritage.
