The Delhi Police are stepping up security measures along the Yamuna riverbanks in preparation for the Chhath Puja celebrations. This move aims to ensure safety, crowd management, and uphold law and order during the four-day festival, an official confirmed on Thursday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Prashant Gautam visited Yamuna ghats in the Geeta Colony and Gandhi Nagar areas to assess the security setups and preparations for the upcoming festivities. He reviewed routes, crowd plans, and deployment sites to enable safe rituals for devotees.

Gautam emphasized that the priority is a peaceful festival. Police deployment will be adjusted to crowd size, with continuous patrols of sensitive areas by teams to mitigate any incidents. Cross-district police vigilance is underway to keep ghats secure across Delhi, especially in trans-Yamuna regions, as massive gatherings are expected.
