Udaipur police on Sunday detained renowned filmmaker Vikram Bhatt in connection with an alleged Rs 30 crore fraud. The arrest, made in Mumbai, marks a significant development in a high-profile case that involves defrauding Dr. Ajay Murdia of the Indira Group.
The police are set to seek a transit remand in Bandra court on Monday. Besides Bhatt, his wife Shwetambari Bhatt and six individuals have been accused of the fraud, implicating a total of eight people in elaborate deceit against Dr. Murdia.
According to the police, Dr. Murdia intended to produce a biopic about his late wife, with an expected revenue of Rs 200 crore. However, following unmet promises, he approached Udaipur's Bhopalpura police station, leading to this high-stakes investigation.
